This year’s Youth Career Expo, themed Youth Employment Starts Now, will take the form of a large-scale job fair, while its online job search platform is accepting applications from now until 23 September.
The expo, which will take place on 8-9 October at The Venetian’s Cotai Expo, is being staged at a time of increased unemployment in Macao, with the jobless rate reaching 5.4 per cent last month.
The expo is jointly hosted by the Labour Affairs Bureau, the Macao New Chinese Youth Association and the General Association of Chinese Students of Macao.
The bureau said that about 60 companies will take part in recruitment activities covering a wide range of industries and sectors such as tourism and leisure, retail, finance, technology, catering, and construction engineering.
The bureau noted that nearly 1,000 vacancies, such as luxury goods salespeople, data analysts, systems engineers and corporate planners, in around 70 occupations “suitable” for youth career development are available.
The two-day exhibition will also feature seminars on topics such as the prospects of emerging industries and the latest policies on employment and life in the Hengqin-Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone.
The bureau pointed out that participants in the expo will be provided with career planning consultations and curriculum vitae writing guidelines, The Macau Post Daily reported.
