Jointly organised by the bureau, Sands China and the General Association of Athletics in Macao, the event consists of a 10-kilometre race and a 5-kilometre fun run.
Online registration for this year’s Macao International 10K competition is set to begin on 4 February at 9:00 am, with 7,000 spots available. Applications for the fun run will begin the following day, with room for 3,000 participants.
Both races are due to start at Sai Van Lake Square and will finish inside the Olympics Sports Centre in Taipa. First-prize winners of the competition can expect to take home US$10,000 in prize money.
Around 10,000 runners took part in the event last year, with Kenyan runners dominating the event.
Edwin Soi from Kenya won the overall men’s title with a new race record of 29:16. Compatriot Winrose Chepkorir was the women’s champion, with a time of 34:22, also a new race record.
