The 2024 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races are scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 June at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, according to an announcement by the Sports Bureau.

The annual event will see small boat and standard boat races between local teams on the first and second day respectively, followed by the international and Macao University student invitational races.

The latter will feature teams from the Chinese mainland and overseas. In previous years, foreign participants hailed from countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, Australia and Singapore.

Registration for the upcoming races is due to open on the China-Macau Dragon Boat Association website from 10 am on 20 March and closes at 10 pm on 26 March. In total, there are 168 spots across the various categories and divisions.

This year’s competition will be jointly organised by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao.

Last year’s races saw the return of international teams after the Covid-19 pandemic prevented overseas racers from attending in 2022.
