The World Cup of Indoor Skydiving 2024 is taking place from 16 to 22 April at Go Airborne, the indoor skydiving facility located at Lisboeta Macau.

According to an information bulletin, the tournament consists of the 5th World Cup of Indoor Skydiving, the 3rd European Indoor Skydiving Championship and the inaugural Asian Indoor Skydiving Championship.

A total of 92 teams from 27 different countries, territories and associations – including competitors from as far afield as Sweden, Indonesia and Qatar – are set to participate in the competition, which will consist of formation skydiving and artistic skydiving.

Organised by Go Airborne, the competition is intended “to support the promotion and development of Indoor skydiving as a global sport” and “deliver a world class-competition to competitors, spectators, and the media.”

“This is the first time that this kind of competition is taking place in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Angus Ho, the general manager of Go Airborne Macau, who noted that his team invested two years in preparing for the event.

Speaking to Macao News, he said that “We hope that with this competition, we can give the international market a new image of Macao.”

The manager also expressed his wish that the event would allow young people in Macao and Greater China to better understand the sport and help cultivate the next generation of indoor skydivers.

In recent years, indoor skydiving has been gaining popularity around the world, especially in China which currently has seven indoor facilities that are open to the public.
