Macao’s 2022 GGR down by 51.4% year-on-year

Macao’s accumulated gross gaming revenue (GGR) in 2022 was MOP 42.19 billion, down 51.4 per cent compared with 2021, when the GGR was recorded at MOP 86.86 billion.

According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Macao casinos’ GGR in December was MOP 3.48 billion, down 56.3 per cent compared with December 2021, when the casinos’ revenues were MOP 7.96 billion.

However, last month’s figure showed a month-on-month increase of 16.1 per cent from MOP 2.99 million in November. In addition, the figure dropped 84.62 per cent from the pre-pandemic figure of MOP 22.83 billion in December 2019. 

Compared to the figure prior to the pandemic, last year’s accumulated GGR decreased by 85.57 per cent from MOP 292.45 billion in 2019. 

Macao currently has 30 casinos operated by the city’s six gaming concessionaires – SJM (13), Venetian Macau (5), Galaxy (4), Melco Crown (4), Wynn Resorts (2) and MGM (2).

As of last year’s third quarter, the city had 5,974 gaming tables and 12,387 slot machines.
