Macao residents are set to receive their third electronic consumption benefit on 1 June and may use this round to pay utility bills, including phone, water, electricity and gas.

Online registration will run from 10 May until 13 January 2023, while the benefit – a MOP 5,000 start-up fund and a MOP 3,000 discount grant – can be used until 28 February 2023. Macao ID holders who register via the Macao Monetary Authority’s dedicated website can start receiving credits as early as 23 May.

As in 2021, all Macao permanent and non-permanent residents are eligible for the benefit and can choose to use either one of the eight locally-registered mobile payment platforms or the e-consumption card.  A maximum of MOP 400 can be spent per day, within the card or mobile payment account’s validity period.

In order to ease the financial pressure faced by local residents and businesses during the pandemic, the government launched the e-consumption benefit in 2020, when the fund was distributed in two phases.
