The state of immediate prevention, which has been in force since 19 June, has been maintained as of 9:30 pm last night. Issued as an Executive Order by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, the order seeks to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

As of midnight last night, Macao registered 56 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the city’s confirmed cases to a total of 694.

Among the new cases, 33 were found in the community while 23 were detected in individuals under management and control, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced. In addition, as of 8 am today, close to 10,800 individuals were under follow up including 1,747 close contacts, 6,798 people with overlapping itineraries, 538 secondary contacts, 334 general contacts and 681 accompanying persons.

Typhoon Signal No 8 was also hoisted last night at 9:30 pm. Originally meant to last until 11 pm, it has lasted throughout the night and will continue to remain in effect this afternoon. At 1 pm, Typhoon Chaba was located about 260 km west-southwest of Macao and continues to move toward the western coast of Guangdong province.

While Signal No 8 is being hoisted, Subsistence Teams will temporarily leave the lockdown zones (Red Code zones) and suspend various services including door-to-door collection services of domestic waste.

In related news, all people in Macao are reminded to undergo a rapid antigen test (RAT) today and upload their results onto the Health Bureau’s platform. A recent government announcement has requested citizens upload photos of their test kits together with packaging boxes. Those who have already uploaded today’s RAT results without the packaging boxes will not need to re-upload them and their health codes will not be affected.
