Budding technology students may soon be able to join an internship programme put together by Macao’s Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and Fuzhou-based Newland Technology Group.

Thirty vacancies involving digital, automatic identification, payment systems and communications technologies will be open to Macao residents, aged 35 or below, who graduated from a tertiary education institution between 2019 and 2022.

Applications are being accepted until 15 February. The internships will take place in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, from 26 March to 23 June. Upon completion, an internship certificate will be issued by the co-organisers.

Potential applicants must have the professional qualifications and skills required for the trainee positions.

DSAL Employment Department Chief Lei Lai Keng said that the aim of the programme is to introduce youngsters to Newland’s affiliated enterprises so they could learn about the new business forms of mainland China’s digital high-tech industry.

By cultivating their relevant business capabilities through practical scenarios and under the guidance of their seniors, young people would be able to expand their employment and development space. Lei added that the advancement of mobile communication technology has driven the transformation and upgrading of all walks of life in recent years.

During the three-month internships, participants will receive a monthly stipend of MOP 5,000 and a one-off allowance of MOP 3,000 for the round-trip and travel insurance from the bureau, as well as a monthly stipend of RMB 3,500 from Newland; other expenses are to be borne by the trainees themselves.

Newland, which was founded in 1994 in Fuzhou, is a high-tech enterprise engaged in scientific and technological innovation, as well as in the market transformation of innovative results; its products and services cover more than 100 countries and regions around the world, involving payment systems, automatic identification, and software and big data, The Macau Post Daily reported.
