Davey Todd delivered a commanding performance at the 57th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix today, topping qualifying in the morning before controlling the 12-lap race to secure victory ahead of Peter Hickman and Erno Kostamo — completing a BMW sweep of the podium.
Qualifying set the tone early. Todd opened the session with a 2:25.63 on his first flying lap, immediately placing himself at the top of the order. Rob Hodson was second-fastest in those opening minutes. Todd then improved to a 2:24.9 around the 25-minute mark, a time that held firm as Kostamo and Hickman traded positions behind him.
Todd briefly came under investigation for possible pit-lane speeding with 29 minutes remaining, though nothing further was confirmed. The closing minutes produced a tight fight among the front three: Hickman crossed the line to take second, but Kostamo reclaimed the spot after his final lap was completed. The result locked in a BMW 1-2-3 on the front row.
Row one was set with Todd, Kostamo and Hickman, followed by Paul Jordan, David Johnson and Hodson on row two.

The race an hour later — the first of this year’s Grand Prix weekend — began with the same trio leading the field away. Todd held control from the start, building a steady gap over the opening two laps. As the pace increased, five BMWs filled the top six with ten laps to go.
Kostamo briefly fell to fifth after a mistake at Lisboa, while Hickman moved into second and Hodson climbed from sixth on the grid into third. By lap ten, Todd held a six-second margin at the front. Kostamo recovered quickly, fighting back to third. One of the standout rides came from newcomer Maurizio Bottalico, who surged into fifth and unsettled the established names in the midfield fight.
Jordan, who had started fourth, dropped to tenth before retiring with four laps remaining. Michael Sweeney and Samuel West also retired, with no reasons announced.
Todd’s pace never faded, completing a weekend where he was fastest in practice, fastest in qualifying and untouchable in the race. Hickman followed him home in second, with Kostamo completing the podium for another all-BMW finish at Guia.
The win marks a dominant showing from Davey Todd and a strong start to the 2025 Macau Grand Prix programme.
