The Georgian-inspired Londoner Grand will be Macao’s first Luxury Collection Hotel, Sands China announced on Tuesday.

The new property will offer 2,405 rooms – including a large number of suites – and occupy the same two towers above the Londoner integrated resort that housed the 4,000-room Sheraton Grand since 2012. Marriott International also ran the Sheraton Grand, which was the biggest hotel in Macao until it wound down operations this month.

Hong Kong firm Peter Silling & Associates designed the Londoner Grand to “radiate an elegant townhouse ambience that is inspired by London’s prestigious Mayfair district,” Sands China said in its press release. Some suites feature private terraces, dedicated children’s rooms, state-of-the-art media rooms and private plunge pools.

There’ll be a number of new dining “concepts” at the hotel in addition to the Londoner Macao’s existing restaurants. The Chelsea Garden food hall will serve a wide selection of regional Chinese cuisines around the clock, while the Hampton Court restaurant is set to offer a buffet of both international and Chinese options. Two specialised Chinese restaurants will cater to fans of Cantonese and Sichuan fare, respectively. The Conservatory, currently part of the Sheraton Grand Macao, will continue to house its dim sum restaurant and tearoom, a confectionery store and a bar styled to resemble a traditional British pub.

Sands China has previously stated that part of the Londoner Grand would open in December, coinciding with the Londoner Grand Casino’s scheduled reopening – though sources familiar with the matter have indicated the new hotel’s soft-opening could happen sooner.

Grant Chum, chief executive officer and president of Sands China, said he believed the Londoner Grand would “serve as a beacon of Macao’s evolving identity as a world-class destination for discerning global travellers.” He added: “The highly anticipated hotel will blend Macao’s East-meets-West culture with the Luxury Collection’s distinctive perspective on luxury, providing our guests unparalleled access to a city rich with heritage, cuisine, and captivating experiences.”
