A new 700-seat capacity cineplex opens in Cotai on 26 June at Studio City. The venture brings the immersive audio of Dolby Atmos and HDR imaging technology of Dolby Vision to Macao for the first time.

The new cineplex will comprise nine movie theatres, including five VIP suites, Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a press release.

Studio City’s senior vice president and property general manager Kevin Benning described the theatres as part of Melco’s “innovative and world-class entertainment and hospitality experiences.”

Benning also highlighted Studio City’s other attractions, which include an all-weather water park, the towering Golden Reel ferris wheel and the Studio City Event Center.

“The new movie theatre destination will complement Studio City’s collection of incredibly diverse and cosmopolitan contemporary leisure and lifestyle experiences,” Benning said.

Melco, Studio City’s owner, reported adjusted property earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation of US$298.8 million in the first quarter of 2024. Thirty percent of that was attributable to Studio City, which opened in 2015.
