Sun Yingsha clinched victory at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Women’s World Cup on Sunday night at the Galaxy Arena, defeating Wang Manyu 4-3 in a hard-fought match that underscored Sun’s dominance in female table tennis.
“It was neck and neck, but I managed to pull through with just a two-point lead,” Sun Yingsha said of her victory. “That’s what makes competitive sports so charming. I believe we’re both winners here. We both brought our A-game today.”
The men’s trophy was meanwhile lifted by Ma Long, who defeated long-time rival Lin Gaoyuan 4-3 in a mesmerising final to claim the championship for the third time.
