The luxury cosmetics brand Charlotte Tilbury will showcase female Formula 1 racing drivers – members of the F1 Academy – on its global platform this year, as an official partner of the year-old racing championship, Formula 1 has announced.

F1 Academy’s managing director, Susie Wolff, said it was “a huge privilege” to partner with the beauty company. She thanked the brand’s namesake British founder for “believing in our mission and enabling us to reach a new audience of young women to showcase the opportunities available to them in our sport.”

The F1 Academy was launched by Formula 1 last year, with the aim of increasing women’s participation in motorsports. All teams race in identical Formula 4 cars with the Tatuus F4-T421 chassis. Prema Racing’s Marta Garcia, from Spain, won the 2023 championship.

One of the academy’s racers, Bianca Bustamante, competed in last year’s Macau Grand Prix for the team BlackArts Racing. After placing 7th in the 2023 F1 Academy championship, Bustamante became the first female driver to join the McLaren Driver Development Programme.

Tilbury, meanwhile, said her brand was “standing proudly behind the incredible young women making waves in the fast-paced world of Formula 1.” She said she hoped the partnership would help “open up the traditionally male-dominated world of motorsport to even more talented young women.”

The F1 2024 calendar consists of 24 races, beginning in Bahrain on 2 March and finishing in Abu Dhabi on 8 December.
