The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Leong Vai Tac led a delegation to Hengqin Island to participate in the opening ceremony of the Hengqin area of Guangdong Free Trade Zone, on Thursday. The “Protocol between the City of Zhuhai People’s Government and the Macau Special Administrative Region Government on the establishment of mechanism Zhuhai-Macau cooperation for the construction of the Experimental Zone Hengqin Free Trade Area of Guangdong ” was celebrated.
Leong said that the construction of Hengqin area of Guangdong Free Trade Zone was absolutely vital to Macau’s development needs and strategic requirements for Guangdong and Macau cooperation, so the Macau government, together with businesses and the local population, will support and actively participate in the construction of that area.
Leong also said the Macau government will invest greater efforts to promote cooperation at all levels between Guangdong and Macau, focused mainly on raising the effectiveness of the implementation of the Macau-Hengqin cooperation projects and mutual gains between Zhuhai and Macau, as well as the establishment of favorable conditions for development of small and medium enterprises, professionals and Macau youth. Their work will be developed in the following ways:
1) The competent authorities will invite relevant leaders of the Guangdong Free Trade Area, especially the Hengqin area, to move to the territory and organize information sessions on projects and policies relevant. On the other hand, business delegations will be organized to visit Guangdong, including Zhuhai, to learn and better understand the same projects.
2) The relevant departments will conduct a review of legislation and regulations, in connection with the participation of the business sector and the population in the construction of this Free Trade Area.
3) Accelerate the progress, improve the quality and increase the efficiency of the construction of the Guangdong-Macau Cooperation Industrial Park, including the Scientific and Industrial Park of Traditional Chinese Medicine Guangdong and Macao.
4) Work will be strengthened for organizing the sector, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises to develop their businesses in Hengqin area.
5) Specific services will be launched and targeted measures to build the Business Creation Valley for Youth in Macau together with Hengqin, in order to boost growth and success for Macau youth.
6) Together both territories will improve the cooperation mechanism for the construction of Hengqin area of Guangdong Free Trade Area, which consists of government service from Zhuhai and Macau, to actively promote cooperation between the two territories. (macaunews/GCS)
