Around 100,000 residents had registered for this year’s MOP 8,000 electronic consumption benefit scheme as of 6 pm yesterday, the first day of the programme’s registration process.
The Macao Monetary Authority and the Economic and Technological Development Bureau said that 50,803 of the 101,788 who had signed up chose to use one of the eight locally-registered mobile payment platforms, while 50,985 opted for electronic consumption cards.
Those who chose to register with the programme with the assistance of staff at the city’s various service points yesterday were able to complete their registration processes in two minutes on average, The Macau Post Daily reported.
