Uber launched a new suite of services today, designed to streamline travel between Hong Kong and Macao, as well as improve mobility within Macao itself.

For trips across the estuary, Uber’s new city-to-city option offers point-to-point limousine transfers and is available for booking in both directions, offering riders upfront pricing that incorporates all bridge and tunnel tolls.

The rides are delivered in partnership with Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings, a well-established cross-boundary transport operator. To use the service, riders must reserve their trip via the Uber app at least 24 hours in advance, with bookings accepted up to 90 days ahead of the travel date through the Uber Reserve feature.

A key feature of the Macao-Hong Kong transfers is direct pickup from urban areas in Hong Kong and drop-off in Macao city, eliminating the need for internal transfers.

The service also significantly cuts down on queuing time at SAR checkpoints by allowing passengers with eligible travel documents to complete immigration clearance while remaining inside the vehicle.

Prices include 30 minutes of free waiting time and free cancellation available if a trip is cancelled six hours or more before the planned departure.

In addition to the cross-border limousine service, Uber is integrating licensed Macao taxis into its app. Users in Macao can now request a local taxi through the Uber app, with the fare calculated by the official taxi meter.

Payment is handled within the app, which is supported by multiple languages and standard safety features, including trip tracking and emergency assistance.

Estyn Chung, general manager of Uber Hong Kong, said “We are pleased to introduce an easier method for people to travel between Hong Kong and Macao, and to get around when they are in Macao.”

Chung added that the initiative also aimed to support Macao’s tourism objectives, assist locals with city travel, and create new opportunities for drivers.
