Hong Kong table tennis pair Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi-kem finally ended a long wait for mixed doubles silverware on Sunday, clinching the title at the WTT Star Contender Doha.
The experienced pairing secured the crown with a 3-1 victory over South Korea’s Park Gang-hyeon and Kim Na-yeong, winning 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 in the final. It marked the duo’s first WTT Series mixed doubles title after more than a decade of partnership.
Wong and Doo made a slow start, dropping the opening game as nerves showed early on. However, they settled in the second game and swung momentum firmly in their favour in the third, capitalising after the Korean pair failed to convert a 9-7 lead. From there, the Hong Kong duo controlled proceedings to close out the match.
“We played relatively smoothly in the mixed doubles this time, but honestly, every match was tough,” Wong said after the final. “We lost the first game in the final because we were a bit too anxious at the start. Only when we settled down later did I feel confident that we could pull through. Winning the title was not easy at all.”

“I didn’t think we would actually win the championship,” Doo said, adding that “Wong really led the way this time”.
According to World Table Tennis, the Doha success ends one of the sport’s longest-running title droughts for an established mixed doubles partnership and adds a significant milestone to Hong Kong’s table tennis programme, boosting momentum at the start of the 2026 international season.
