Macao’s museums are preparing to mark International Museum Day on 18 May with an extended period of promotions and events.

At a press conference earlier this week, officials said that a special carnival will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday 12 May, at the Mount Fortress Garden, with activities organised by a number of participating museums.

The month of May will also see museums hold special exhibitions, workshops, guided tours and other commemorative activities. They will be open to the public at designated times for free.

A mobile game, “My Museum Visit Passport,” will also  be rolled out between 12 May and 2 June. Participants can use the game to collect e-stamps at the museums for a chance to win special prizes.

International Museum Day has been organised by the International Council of Museums since 1977 and aims to draw public attention to the valuable cultural and community work of museums
