Hordes of visitors flocked to the Macao Grand Prix Museum in Zape over Chinese New Year (CNY), many of them non-local residents.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said the museum recorded 4,289 visitors between 21 and 27 January, an increase of 235 per cent over the previous year’s holiday, some 83 per cent of them non-local residents.

The highest number of visitors to the museum during Golden Week was recorded on the fourth and fifth days of CNY, last Wednesday and Thursday, with more than 800 visitors per day.

In related news, the MGTO said that to encourage the local tourism sector to introduce new diversified itineraries and products, the museum has launched a cooperation programme for the Macao Grand Prix Museum tickets. The application process will be open for travel agencies and hotels today, and successful applicants will receive ticket discounts.

The application period runs from 9 am today to 5:30 pm on 17 February. Interested parties should complete the application form together with other required documents and submit them to the museum by email, fax, post, or in person during office hours.

Successful applicants will be required to actively promote and sell the museum tickets, and to designate a contact person to handle urgent matters referred by MGTO. The ticket price for third-party sales should never be higher than the normal price charged by the museum, The Macau Post Daily reported.
