More than 600,000 passengers used Macau International Airport (MIA) in,July, an increase of 20 per cent compared with the same month of 2015, according to official data released by the airport.

The daily volume of passengers reached 19,000.

During the same month the movement of aircrafts reached 4,900, an increase of 2 per cent compared with same period of last year.

Southeast Asia routes continue to perform well in July taking up 43 per cent of the overall market, followed by mainland China and Taiwan, accounting for 30 per cent and 27 per cent respectively.

The three major markets recorded 36 per cent, 3 per cent, and 18 per cent increases respectively compared with the same period last year.

Up to end of July 2016, MIA handled around 1,040 weekly scheduled flights with 30 airlines connecting Macau to 42 cities around the world.

During July, South Korean home-based carrier T’Way Airlines resumed 5 weekly flights from Seoul to Macau effective from 22 July 2016.

In August, Palau Pacific Airway from Palau will launch charter flights between Palau and Macau. (Macau News/MIA)
