Macau vistors drop 2.6 percent in January-October

Macau’s number of visitor arrivals dropped 2.6 percent year-on-year to 25.5 million in the first 10 months of this year, announced the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

Same-day visitor, accounting for 53.9 percent of the total and over-night visitors decreased by 1.9 percent and 3.5 percent respectively.

Mainlanders and Hongkongers accounted for about two thirds and slightly over one fifth of all visitor arrivals respectively. While the number of mainland visitors dropped by 3.5 percent, the number of Hong Kong visitors rose by 1.1 percent.

Last month’s visitor arrivals fell by 0.6 percent year-on-year to 2.6 million. Month-to-month, the figure was up by 9.2 percent.

Visitors’ total non-gaming expenditure in the third quarter amounted to 12.47 billion patacas, down 19.5 percente year-on-year but up to 1.8 percent quarter-to-quarter, according to a DSEC statement last week.
