A local delegation of 50 peple concluded a three-day visit to Cambodia on the 30 May 2016 with a meeting with the President of the Senate, said the Macau Government Information Bureau.

The vice president of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Chief Executive Edmund Ho, and the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam, also met up with the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, to whom they expressed willingness to strengthen bilateral exchanges.

After meeting Hun Sen, the Macau delegation attended the seminar  “Macau – Cambodia Investment & Tourism Development Seminar” held with the aim of businesspeople from Macau and Cambodia finding cooperation projects that are complementary and have development potential, to extend the ways and types of collaboration.

Alexis Tam said “Macau has played an important role as an economic and commercial platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.”

During the trip, Ho and the Cambodian Tourism Minister, Thong Khon, witnessed the signing of the “tourism training memorandum of cooperation” between Cambodia and Macau, which according to Tam, “represents our commitment to promoting sustainable tourism development by training human resources.”

Tam revealed that an intensive 9-day training program will be held from 13 to 21 June at the Institute for Tourism Studies for a group of Cambodian heritage tour guides and officials from the Authority for the Protection of the Site and Management of the Region of Angkor.
