TurboJet’s ferry service between Macao and Tuen Mun in Hong Kong will cease for good from next Tuesday.
All TurboJet Hong Kong routes were suspended due to Covid-19 in January 2020, and the company’s lease for the ferry terminal in Tuen Mun runs out on 8 June.
Passengers holding valid tickets for the route can claim a refund from TurboJet ticketing offices.
Shun Tak Group, which owns TurboJet, has previously indicated that its transportation division has been challenged by many factors for a long time, including a shift in travel patterns with the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in 2018 and unrest in Hong Kong.
Ferry operators are believed to have dismissed at least half of their staff due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
