Macao’s visitor arrivals edged up to 25,252 visitor arrivals on Friday, the highest number recorded since the city entered the State of Immediate Prevention on 25 September due to the detection of a Covid-19 cluster.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said that since the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Macao has stabilised and Zhuhai has loosened its novel coronavirus prevention and control measures for arrivals from Macao, the number of visitors has gradually increased.

On the day the 14-day mandatory quarantine was lifted in Zhuhai, the number of arrivals jumped to nearly 14,000.

During the State of Immediate Prevention, over the National Day Golden Week holiday. Macao received a mere 8,159 visitors.

The MGTO has promised to promote Macao on various social media such as WeChat, Weibo, Red and Tiktok, advocating the city as a safe and quality destination for mainland visitors.

As an additional attraction, a string of events in November and December will include the Macao Light Festival and the Light-up Macao Drone Gala, The Macau Post Daily reported.
