Both the Grand Prix and Maritime museums reopen today, as Macao’s tourism officials launch a big push to attract mainland visitors.

Following the improvements in the city’s Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced that it will continue to promote Macao as a safe destination to mainland visitors through various social media platforms.

The MGTO is promoting the city via social media platforms including WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin, and through the platforms of Macao’s key opinion leaders (KOLs).

The MGTO has also released a short video explaining the new cross-border arrangements requiring a valid negative result of a Covid-19 nucleic acid test (NAT) issued within 48 hours from those leaving the city.

The latest travel information is also shared on social networks while KOLs promote the city as a safe travel destination on Douyin and Xiaohongshu. In order to draw young visitors, the MGTO has released a series of video clips titled “Fall in Love with Macao 100 ways”, which give entertainment and travel tips such as dining and leisure experiences.

The MGTO’s mascot, MAK MAK, welcomed visitors at the Barrier Gate checkpoint yesterday while staff distributed travel brochures.

In accordance with the government’s Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control guidelines, a visitor limit of around 1,100 per day will remain in place at the Grand Prix Museum, however the museum’s free-guided tour will resume.

The Maritime Museum, which also reopens today, will allow everyone to visit it for free from now on. The opening hours of the museum near A-Ma Kok Temple run from 10 am to 6 pm daily. It is closed on Tuesdays, The Macau Post Daily reported.
