Macau’s number of visitor arrivals rose 11 percent year on year to 2.74 million, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Tuesday.
Month-to-month, the figure was up 9.7 percent.
Overnight visitors (1.4 million) and same-day visitors (1.3 million) increased 17.7 percent and 4.4 percent year on year respectively.
Visitors’ average length of stay rose 0.1 day year on year to 1.2 days. Overnight visitors stayed an average of 2.1 days.
Mainland visitors increased 7.1 percent year on year to 1.76 million in April. Guangdong residents accounted for 41 percent of all mainland visitors.
The mainland and Hong Kong accounted for 64.5 percent and 22.2 percent of all visitor arrivals.
Visitors from South Korea (64,924) and Hong Kong (608,879) increased 48.7 percent and 25.3 percent respectively, while those from Taiwan (89,567) decreased 2.8 percent.
In April, 17,756 US citizens, 10,328 Australians, 6,973 Canadians and 6,710 UK citizens visited Macau.
In the first four months of the year, the number of visitor arrivals rose 6.9 percent year on year to 10.6 million.
