Basketball fans are in for a treat this autumn when the FIBA 23 Macau Masters – Wynn Cup Greater Bay Area Qualifying Tournament comes to Macao.

A Sports Bureau spokesman said the event will be held from 4-10 October at Largo do Pagode da Barra, Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, Praça do Tap Seac and Wynn Palace in Cotai.

This is the first time that the FIBA 3×3 Macau Masters qualifying tournament will be held in Macao. The competition is open to teams from the Greater Bay Area’s (GBA) 11 cities and regions and the winning team will earn a spot at FIBA 3×3 Masters and MOP 100,000. 

The spokesman said  that the aim of the event is to raise Macao’s 3×3 basketball level and promote and encourage sport interaction with other cities and regions in the GBA, as well as to revitalise the sports and tourism industry.

The event is co-organised by the Sports Bureau and StarMac Entertainment & Production, and sponsored by the Macao-China Basketball Association, Absolute 3×3 Basketball and Wynn Resorts Macau.

Registration will open on 13 August and people who are interested can register for an account on https://play.fiba3x3.com/?lang=zh-CN, then sign up at www.macao3x3basketball.com. The signup fee is MOP 500.

In order to ensure the competition takes place in a safe environment, the organisers will pay close attention to the Covid-19 pandemic development, and will make adjustments according to the Macao Health Bureau’s guidelines.
