Macao’s public spaces are gradually opening up – with a few strings attached – as life in the city edges back towards normality.

Cheoc Van and Hac Sa reopened to the public on Saturday, the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said.

Swimming, or even entering the water, is still prohibited.

Gardens, parks, leisure areas and the hiking trails in Taipa and Coloane have also reopened, however children’s playgrounds, fitness equipment and pavilions, among other facilities, remain closed to avoid crowding.

Opening hours are the same as before the current Omicron variant outbreak; the Municipal Affairs Bureau noted that its free sports grounds are still temporarily closed.

Members of the public have been warned to abide by Covid-19 prevention measures when out and about, The Macau Post Daily reported.
