The government has rebooked the 270-room Regency Art Hotel – which is located on Taipa Island – announced Lau Fong Chi, the head of the Public Relations Division of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) today. It became a government-designated hotel for quarantine again since Saturday.

This is the third time the hotel has been used for the same purpose. It was first used on 19 March as a government-designated hotel for quarantine and again on 10 August after the government rebooked the 300-room Golden Crown China Hotel on 1 August and the 450-room Treasure Hotel on 6 August.

According to Lau, there are a total of 1,084 people still under medical observation at the government-designated hotels, with 269 Macao residents, 41 are non-resident workers and 747 tourists.

There were 12 “quarantine hotels” at the local COVID-19 peak in late March.

As of today, Macao had not confirmed a locally contracted case of COVID-19 for 204 days – and no imported cases for 115 days. All the 46 COVID-19 patients in Macao, the first of whom was diagnosed on 22 January, have meanwhile been cured and discharged from hospital after completing the 14-day recovery period.
