Newborn ring-tailed lemur twins debut in Coloane
The ultra-rare twin ring-tailed lemurs born in Seac Pai Van Park in Coloane last month are thriving and growing bigger by the day.
According to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) both mother and pups are in good health, and a special team will continue to monitor their health.
Ring-tailed lemurs usually only have one pup at a time. The two pups, who have yet to be named, have already opened their eyes and their bodies are covered with fur, so they look like adults.
IAM officials say the pups are very active but that they cling to the mother’s belly a lot of the time. Their carers have yet to check their gender, The Macau Post Daily reported.
Due to their young age, they are still getting used to the environment, and are not ready to be shown to the public. The statement added that the Seac Pai Van Park’s monkey zone is closed for maintenance. For more information, residents can call 2833 7676.
