The Macao Museum of Art (MAM) and the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao in NAPE will host a series of activities and exhibitions this month in celebration of International Museum Day on 18 May.

The programme is themed The Power of Museums, which suggests the power of achieving sustainability, innovating on digitalisation and accessibility and community building through education.

At the beginning of this month, the museums, in conjunction with 10 others in Macao launched the One Museum, One Story: Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2022 WeChat Game, which runs until 29 May.

Upon completing the game’s check-in tasks, visitors can participate in a lucky draw during the Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2022 on 29 May, with prizes such as museum gifts and supermarket gift vouchers. The carnival, which will be held from 2 to 6 pm, features various activities, including game booths and treasure hunts.

Additional guided tours will also be laid on in both museums. A special programme, Dreaming in Macao Memory, which will be held between 22 and 29 May, includes two guided routes designed with the cultural characteristics of Macao’s community displayed in the exhibition YiiMa Art Group: Allegory of Dreams.

On 31 May the seminar Full of Challenges: the 59th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia will be held online and offline, with YiiMa Art Group’s Ung Vai Meng and Chan Hin Io sharing their experience of participating in the exhibition.

MAM is also currently holding various exhibitions such as Wild Imagination: Contemporary Ink Art in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao from 2000 to 2022, and Portraits and Busts by Tam Chi Sang donated to the Macao Museum of Art, while a display board promotes the exhibition YiiMa Art Group: Allegory of Dreams, The Macau Post Daily reported.
