Enhancement work for barrier-free facilities at the Xian Xinghai Memorial Museum has been completed, with a lifting platform installed for visitors with mobility difficulties and others who might require it, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has announced.

Born in Macao in 1905, Xian Xinghai was one of the first Chinese composers to embrace western classical music, influencing a number of future Chinese musicians. He is often referred to as a “son of Macao” and a “musician of the people”.

Located in Rua de Francisco Xavier, the museum is divided into an exhibition room, discovery corner, multi-purpose hall, nursing room and courtyard.

The museum showcases Xian Xinghai’s life and artistic achievements and also includes a “knowledge zone” for children to learn music facts and a “multimedia discovery corner” to enable the public to practice conducting.

The museum is open every day except Tuesday and admission is free, The Macau Post Daily reported.
