The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced Tuesday (17th) morning that Macau confirmed an imported case of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The patient, a 47-year-old male, is a Spanish national doing business in Macau – he felt no conscious discomfort.

On March 15, he took the SU2501 flight from Madrid in Spain to Moscow, and then the SU204 flight from Moscow to Beijing. On March 16, he took the NX001 flight from Beijing to Macau and arrived at Macau Airport at 8:00pm on Monday (16th) at the airport.

Fever was found by the staff of the Health Bureau (SSM), but there was no other discomfort. He was then sent to the Conde São Januário Hospital by the ambulance for examination. It was confirmed by a nucleic acid test on Tuesday morning (17th) that it was a new case of coronavirus infection.

This case is the 12th confirmed case in Macau and is classified as an imported case.

There were only 7 passengers on the NX001 flight from Beijing to Macau. The Health Bureau will follow up further.
