Events and Listings Reporter
Location: Macao, Zhuhai, Hong Kong or Shenzhen
These are exciting times for Macao and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and we need an energetic reporter to help us cover them.
As Macao’s leading English-language digital media platform, Macao News will soon be launching the city’s definitive listings guide, covering everything from exhibitions and concerts to dining, sporting events, business conferences and much more.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic reporter to join that project, and help our team establish the listings section as the go-to events resource for Macao residents and visitors.
There will be room for growth as the listings section will eventually expand to cover other cities in the GBA.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be:
- Socially confident and presentable: somebody who loves the entertainment circuit, enjoys networking and who knows how to put their finger on the pulse of all the major happenings in a city like Macao
- Detail oriented and meticulous, with patience for checking opening hours, dates, times, addresses, websites, phone numbers, ticket prices and all the other variables that come with a listings guide
- A person with a natural interest in both Macao and in everything that comes under the topic of “lifestyle”: eating out, culture, art, music, shopping, wellness, and so on
- Somebody with initiative and who wants to make their mark with the launch of an exciting new editorial product
Duties include:
- Writing, maintaining and updating, on a daily basis, the listings platform of Macao News, initially covering Macao but eventually expanding to include other parts of the GBA
- Researching and compiling events to be listed
- Proactively reaching out to organisers of events for the latest information
- Attending openings and events on behalf of Macao News
- Pitching and writing other content, such as interviews and short features, to accompany listings
Expectations:
- At least two years’ experience in English-language lifestyle journalism, marketing communications or PR
- Fluency in English and Chinese, written and spoken
- A willingness to work irregular hours
Applicants can live in either Macao or in a nearby city such as Zhuhai, Hong Kong or Shenzhen . Please note that if you do not live in Macao, you will be expected to travel to Macao on a frequent basis to fulfill your duties.
We offer 20 working days’ paid holiday a year in addition to statutory holidays, as well as membership of a supportive and inclusive team. Interested? Please send your CV, expected salary and availability to [email protected] along with a cover letter that explains why you are the right person for the job.
