New FPSO is part of US$16 billion revitalisation programme, which in time is expected to produce 150,000 barrels per day.
Petrobras’ strategic platform for the Campos Basin revitalisation plan, FPSO Anita Garibaldi, which will interconnect 43 oil wells, has left the DSIC Marine Yard shipyard, in Dalian, bound for Brazil.
According to the Brazilian oil company, the FPSO (a floating unit that produces, stores and transfers oil) left for Brazil after undergoing final tests.
Before reaching the Campos Basin, the new FPSO will dock at the Jurong shipyard, in the city of Aracruz (Espirito Santo), where it will undergo the commissioning process, in addition to regulatory inspections and operational tests.
The new system will be installed in the Marlim and Voador fields, in the Campos Basin (Rio de Janeiro), and is expected to start production by the third quarter of 2023.
With the capacity to produce up to 80,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 7 million cubic metres of gas daily, the new FPSO will be play a strategic role in the Campos Basin Renewal Plan, aimed at renewing mature assets operated by the company in the region.
Petrobras is investing US$16 billion in this programme, which is part of its Strategic Plan for 2022 to 2026.
The new platform will be connected to 43 wells, and is expected to hit peak production in 2026.
The Marlim Revitalisation Project plans to replace the nine platforms currently operating in the Marlim and Voador fields by the new FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery – the latter being scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2023.
The revitalisation of the Campos Basin is part of the largest programme of its kind for mature assets in the global offshore industry.
By installing the FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery in the Marlim and Voador fields, Petrobras plans to produce up to 150,000 bpd.
The Campos Basin is responsible for almost 75 per cent of all oil extracted from Brazil’s offshore fields to date.
The region is expected to continue to play a pioneering role in innovation in the oil and gas industry.
