Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On will arrive in Beijing on Tuesday to take part in Wednesday’s third plenary meeting of the Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) has announced.

Chui will travel to the national capital from Shanghai where he attended a welcoming banquet last night hosted by President Xi Jinping for the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE). The chief executive is slated to attend the expo’s opening ceremony this morning, according to GCS. Macau has its own exhibition area – Macau Hub – at the expo.

Chui and Shanghai Mayor Yin Yong on Monday witnessed the signing of a Macau-Shanghai agreement on the setting-up of a regular cooperation mechanism between the two cities.

Chui’s delegation to Shanghai includes Secretary for Economy and Finance Leong Vai Tac and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng. The secretary-general of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau, Wang Xindong, is accompanying Macau’s delegation.
