Macao’s Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will visit Hong Kong from today until 1 July to attend the 25th anniversary of the neighbouring special administrative region’s (SAR) establishment and its new chief executive’s inauguration.

Ho was invited by Hong Kong’s outgoing Chief Executive Carrie Lam, who will be succeeded by chief executive elect John Lee. While Ho is away, Secretary for Administration and Justice Cheong Weng Chon will be Macao’s acting chief executive.

Ho and the rest of the Macao government delegation members who are going to Hong Kong have been undergoing self-health monitoring for the past week. They have also undergone one rapid antigen test and one nucleic acid test (NAT) on a daily basis, according to the Government Information Bureau (GCS).

The delegation will also follow Hong Kong’s anti-epidemic measures and will be under a closed-loop management system while in the city.

Upon returning to Macao, each delegation member will be required by the Health Bureau to undergo NATs on days 1, 2, 4 and 7 counting from the time of re-entry, during which time all delegation members will not be allowed to attend activities that require face mask’s removal, GCS said.
