Xia Baolong, the senior central government official for Macao affairs, toured the territory’s legislature on Wednesday.
The 70-year-old director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council was accompanied on the tour by the president of the Legislative Assembly, Kou Hoi In, and also spoke to lawmakers.
Afterward Xia Baolong, who is also the vice chairman of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, called in at the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies to learn more about its work.
In the afternoon, Xia met with representatives from Macao’s public security forces at Government Headquarters and was given a presentation by security Secretary Wong Sio Chak.
He then visited the Court of Final Appeal and listened to reports from the court’s president, Sam Hou Fai, and the prosecutor-general, Ip Son Sang. The central government official also had brief exchanges with judges and public prosecutors.
Xia will conclude his visit to Macao today.
