The government has announced arrangements for the commemoration tomorrow of the 24th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China.
At 8:00 am, there will be a flag-raising ceremony officiated by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng – who arrives back from a duty visit to Beijing today. The ceremony will take place at Golden Lotus Square and be broadcast live by Teledifusão de Macau (TDM). Performances will follow.
Representatives from the national and local governments will attend the ceremony, as will members of the People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison.

At 9.30 am, the Macao government will host a special reception at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex.
Meanwhile, the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will offer a “commemorative postmarking service” to the public between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, from a temporary counter set up at Macao Post’s Senado Square headquarters.
Macao’s commemorative 24th anniversary envelopes can be purchased for four patacas a piece.
