The central government’s top official on Macao affairs, Xia Baolong, arrived in the territory yesterday on a fact-finding and inspection tour, according to a government statement.
After landing at the airport, Xia was taken to the city’s recently completed fourth bridge – named the “Macao Bridge” after a public competition. During the site inspection, Xia was accompanied by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and was briefed by the head of the Public Works Bureau, Lam Wai Hou.
Lam told Xia that the bridge would alleviate some of the SAR’s traffic woes and spur development of parts of the urban area.

Local media reports that Xia also intends to meet with community, neighbourhood and business leaders during his visit.
The official last visited Macao a year ago.
