People in Macao can express their deep condolences for the passing of China’s former president Jiang Zemin by joining a national memorial meeting that will be broadcast live on television and radio channels of Macao’s public broadcaster TDM directly from the Great Hall of the People in Beijing starting at 10 am tomorrow.
Principal officials of the local government, members of the Executive Council, lawmakers and the city’s Judiciary representatives will stand and observe three minutes of silence during tomorrow morning’s memorial in respect of the late leader, according to a statement released by the Government Information Bureau (GCS) on Saturday.
At the same time, all government vehicles and vessels will sound their horns for three minutes, said the statement, which also underlined that government officials will not attend any public entertainment activities tomorrow, and all entertainment and celebratory activities organised or funded by the government will also need to be suspended.
On the same day, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) will coordinate with all tertiary education institutions, primary and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens in the city to fly the national flag at half-mast and suspend all celebrations.
In addition, schools are urged to arrange for their teachers and students to also observe the three-minute silent tribute during the memorial meeting tomorrow, each according to their own specific conditions, The Macau Post Daily reported.
