The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement Sunday that it has collected the opinions of the members of the government-appointed Tourism Development Council about its draft by-law regulating the management and operation of the city’s ferry terminals.
According to the statement cited by The Macau Post Daily, the bureau’s staff members met council members to collect their opinions about the draft on Friday.
The bureau said that the draft suggested each ferry terminal should be divided into different sections such as prohibited areas, public areas and commercial areas and how those areas should be regulated.
According to figures revealed by the bureau, the total number of arrivals at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal stood at 24 million last year.
The bureau said that the draft would also include regulations to penalise any irregular activities or acts taking place in the terminals, adding it believed that the by-law would be useful to improve the management and operation of the city’s ferry terminals.
According to the statement, the bureau will present the draft to the city’s tourism sector and ferry operators
for opinions on the proposed regulations. (macaunews)
