The Brazilian government is relying on Chinese visitors to boost international tourism and is going to formalise visa exemption for Chinese tourists, according to Tourism Minister Gilson Machado.
Machado said that the Brazilian government is working to boost foreign visits once the Covid-19 pandemic has stabilised, and that attracting Chinese tourists is very important.
Brazil plans to open a tourism office in China, according to the minister, although he admitted that the long distance between the two countries – some 17,000 kilometres between the two capitals – and a lack of air connections presented significant challenges.
