The inaugural Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Documentary Festival was recently held in Shenzhen, with TDM winning three awards. Two of the awards were for Macau Historical Figures (囗述澳門歷史名人堂), while another program Macau Chill Viva (馬交遊─鏡海浮沉話世遺) earned a finalist award.
Macau Historical Figures won the “Outstanding Editing Award” and the “Good Work Award.”
The editor of the award-winning documentary, Wong Io Ian, shared that the programme focuses on the stories of the city’s historical figures, both local and international, in the hopes of raising the public’s awareness of Macao’s history.

Macau Chill Viva meanwhile won a finalist award. Filmmaker Lo Hoi Fung shared that the programme aims to promote local World Heritage sites and to facilitate the public’s deeper understanding of what makes these historical sites so special.
The aim of the festival is to promote the creation of documentaries and cultivate talent in the Greater Bay Area, and to raise awareness of it internationally.
A total of 371 entries were received from 113 organisations across the country. Some 94 documentaries were deemed outstanding, with 36 granted with the “Good Work Award” and 17 granted with the “Excellent Work Award.”
