This month will see small and medium-sized enterprises from Macao take part in the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s (HKTDC) Food Expo for the first time. The move is part of an effort to promote local brands to other markets, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (known by its Portuguese initials IPIM) has announced.
The 35th edition of the event will be held from 14 to 18 August, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Its Macao Pavilion – jointly run by IPIM and Industrial Association of Macau – will feature almost 100 products from 10 companies.
Products on show will include noodles, wine, tea and health supplements. Many will carry the “M-Mark” quality certification, and more than half are halal-certified. Several companies are set to launch new products during the expo.

Covering 32,000 square metres, this year’s Food Expo is expecting to host over 900 exhibitors from the Chinese mainland, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and other regions. Organisers expect about 500,000 visitors and professional buyers.
During the five-day event, the Macao Pavilion will host six promotional activities and 12 buyer matching sessions to connect local enterprises with potential partners from Hong Kong and the mainland. Daily giveaways, product showcases, social media exposure and mystery box draws will be employed to attract foot traffic.
The pavilion will also feature sections highlighting the Macao-Hengqin meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions sector and Macao’s role as a services platform for China’s trade with Portuguese-speaking countries.
