A US$1.4 billion K11 mall in Shenzhen is expected to open by the end of this year, according to multiple local media reports.
At 228,500 square metres, the complex is set to be one of the biggest shopping centres in the city and will join a national portfolio of K11 malls in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shenyang and Tianjin.
Dubbed K11 ECoast, the project is under construction at Prince Bay in Shenzhen’s Nanshan district. When complete, it will also feature an art space, office building and waterfront promenade.

The mall’s eco-friendly design is a collaborative effort between three architecture companies, David Chipperfield Architects, OMA and Sou Fujimoto, and will feature recycled materials and renewable energy.
The K11 Group says that it hopes the Shenzhen project will be an “economy trailblazer in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).”
Growing integration in the GBA has encouraged large numbers of consumers from Macao and Hong Kong to cross over to the Chinese mainland for shopping, where prices are considerably cheaper.
