A tropical depression that was forming over the ocean east of the Philippines has intensified and turned into a tropical cyclone, which is expected to affect Macao and the surrounding regions this week.
Typhoon Ma-on is predicted to enter the northern part of South China Sea midweek but its forecast path and intensity are still uncertain, according to Macao’s Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), who is closely monitoring tropical cyclone’s development.
However, according to the bureau’s tropical cyclone track map, Ma-on is anticipated to approach Macao before making landfall on the coast of Guangdong province on Thursday.
SMG advised the public to pay attention to the latest weather news throughout the week.
