The Head of the Macao Government Tourism Office’s (MGTO) Destination Marketing Department Betty Fok said at the press conference today that with the number of people in quarantine reduced, the Sheraton Hotel will once again return to its normal hospitality role no later than 14 August.
From 1 August, the 250-room Golden Crown China Hotel – also previously used as a “quarantine hotel” from 17 March to 30 April – will start to be used as a quarantine hotel.
Fok also said during the press conference that, at present, there are a total of 943 people under medical observation in the two hotels – in Sheraton Hotel and Pousada Marina Infante hotel – and among them are 474 Macao residents.
This is the second time the Sheraton Hotel had been used for medical observations began on 7 June and had previously also been used between 28 March and 23 April.
Macao has had 46 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with all patients discharged. Out of Macao’s 46 cases, 44 have been classified as imported by the Health Bureau (SSM), while two have been classified as cases connected to imported ones.
