The city’s parking meter rates will be increased by up to a maximum of 12 patacas per hour as soon as the Official Gazette (BO) publishes the rate adjustment, Traffic Consultative Council member Kou Kun Pang told reporters on Monday.
Kou made the remarks after a closed-door council meeting at the Transport Bureau (DSAT). He said the rate adjustment aimed to boost parking turnover in busier districts and to narrow the price gap between on-street parking and public car parks, so as to reduce the demand for the former.
The parking rates for light vehicles with a duration limit of 2 hours and 4 hours will be doubled to 6 patacas and 3 patacas per hour respectively, while the rate with a duration limit of an hour will be increased to 12 patacas.
