Forty-six thousand (46,000) people crossed all entry points to Macau which is the lowest on record, the Macau Information Bureau (GCS) released in a statement on Sunday.

According to figures provided by the police authorities, the majority of those who cross the border (22,000) are non-resident workers in Macau that live in Zhuhai and need to enter and leave the territory daily.

From the 46,000, 6,100 are visitors and 16,600 are Macau residents.

The police said these numbers are much lower than previous days.

Macau was visited in 2019 by 39.4 million tourists.

Regarding the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge, the police registered a movement of 2,400 people, which is 62 per cent less than Saturday.

The bridge was used by 1,082 Macau residents and 621 Hong Kong residents on Sunday, less by 64 per cent and 64.4 per cent respectively compared with Saturday.
